Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison can read. Each week participants are given a prompt. This week's is:
Q: What would your prefer: reading your favorite book over and over again until you got sick of it OR reading 100s of mediocre books? And why?
That's a difficult question to answer! The problem I have with it are those six little words: "until you got sick of it". I love my favourite books because I can choose when I want to return to them for a reread. If the reread was mandatory, I suspect that they'd soon end up like school reads - hated. And I would be very sad to see my favourite book become my least favourite book. On the other hand, I also dislike mediocre books (well, unless they're mediocre romance books - I'm not sure why. It must be a personal guilty pleasure even if I rate them low). In this case, though, I think the hundreds of mediocre books are the lesser of two evils.
How about you?
Hum... it makes sense, though. To start to hate something you love... that'd be horrible.

Yeah, I had a problem with this question too! I don't want to dislike my fave book. But then I don't want to read mediocre books for all of time or whatever.

Hi Rea, Oh, great answer! I can't imagine disliking my fav books.
ReplyDeleteThanks for following me, I'm following you back. looking forward to read your review on Until Next Time. Haven't started on mine, will do pretty soon.
Have a great weekend too! :)
New follower (thru Linky). Great answer. The great thing about your favorites is if you get to a point where you tire (notice I'm not going to say "get sick of it" we love it enough to put it down and go back to it at a time when we can fully appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! I hate the idea of becoming sick of my favourite books, it would be such a shame. I don't think that there is any book that I wouldn't become sick of if I had to reread it so many times!

ReplyDeleteMy Hop
you're right, I think it's always possible too to find new favorite books so it's not a problem... but I agree with you too.

mine is here
You are SO right! I like to re-read my favorites when I'm in the mood for one, I don't think I could ever get tired of them, unless/maybe I am forced to re-read a hundred times over - this was kind of a trick questions, lol!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the follow, following you back :)
hugs, margie
So true about the hated school books part. But I'll never get tired of my fave though. But I think hundred mediocre books are okay, just that I like rereading so much.
